(Nasdaq: DCTH) a development stage, specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company focused on oncology, highlighted the Phase III trial data presented on June 5 at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s 2010 Annual Meeting, comparing percutaneous hepatic perfusion (PHP) with melphalan to the best alternative care for patients with hepatic metastases from ocular or cutaneous melanoma. James F. Pingpank, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a lead Principal Investigator of the Phase III trial, presented the late-breaking abstract on June 5 at 3:30 PM CT, during the Melanoma/Skin Cancer – Oral Abstract Session. In the PHP arm of the study, patients showed median hepatic progression free survival (hPFS) of 245 days compared to 49 days in the BAC arm, a 5x extension of hPFS. Median overall survival in the PHP arm was 298 days, compared to median overall survival of 124 days for those patients in the BAC arm that did not crossover. The hepatic response rate in the PHP arm was 34.1% compared to 2% for the BAC arm and 22.2% for patients who crossed-over to receive PHP upon progression of their tumors. 52.3% of patients in the PHP arm achieved stable disease, compared with 26.5% in the BAC group, and 40.7% in the crossover group.

The data presented by Dr. Pingpank on June 5th are the result of the trial’s Principal Investigator analysis and differ from results of the independent, blinded core lab analysis announced by Delcath on April 21, 2010.

Moments ago, during the Copa NYC Finals at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, New York, soccer legend and former New York Cosmos star Pele made a rare appearance to the thousands of players and fans in attendance, and announced to the world that The New York Cosmos are coming back. Having reigned as America’s greatest soccer club (formerly part of the North American Soccer League), the world-renowned New York Cosmos now return with a greater goal in mind – to inspire, develop and field world-class players. The New York Cosmos is committed to helping improve the future of soccer in this country, with significant investment in grassroots and youth soccer and providing elite coaching philosophies and training opportunities.

The New York Cosmos have already agreed to a unique partnership with Queens-based youth club BW Gottschee, who has 60 years of experience, passion and success at a local and national level. The Cosmos Academy – as they will be known – will field teams from U12-U18 and participate in the US Soccer Development Academy. Furthermore, The New York Cosmos have acquired the Copa NYC tournament, and beyond running it every year in New York, they will be looking to expand it both domestically and internationally in order to engage more local communities to participate in the ‘global game’ at a grassroots level.

As part of what will be an extensive corporate social responsibility strategy, The New York Cosmos will also work closely with the City to enable New York’s schoolchildren to play soccer more often, and more easily, by providing equipment and facilities. However, the club’s ultimate vision is unquestionably to bring The New York Cosmos back to the greatest city in the world, to be a part of Major League Soccer and to compete for the championship. After his final career match in 1977 at the old Giants Stadium, in a speech given to more than 75,000 fans, Pele urged his audience to pay attention to the youth of the world. Today, 33 years later, Pele reinforces that message and will provide an opportunity for their dreams to be fulfilled.

The shift in the professional training industry has paved the way for virtual instructor-led training, educational programs that use the latest technology to create live, online classrooms in which students can ask questions, interact with instructors and chat with classmates all from the convenience of their own computers. Through virtual training, experienced instructors can provide quality industry-aligned project management and business analysis training without geographic limitations. For many companies, eliminating travel and facility costs has made virtual training an accessible and affordable substitute to classroom training.

Virtual classes fit easily into any schedule because they are offered through short evening sessions, which give participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge to projects at work the next day. In addition, courses are worth credit units, which can be used towards professional certifications with the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®). PMCentersUSA is a professional training provider that has had remarkable success using virtual classrooms equipped with live instructors, whiteboards, breakout rooms, and streaming video to provide instruction for large organizations in industries like insurance, banking, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, biotechnology, engineering and construction.

BMW Group will also be the Official Mobility Partner of four National Governing Bodies (NGBs): USA Bobsled & Skeleton, US Speedskating, USA Swimming and USA Track & Field. Jack Pitney, Vice President of Marketing for BMW of North America, USOC Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Baird and short track speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno, the most decorated U.S. winter Olympian of all time, were all in New York City to make the partnership announcement. This multi-million dollar agreement goes beyond financial support to also provide the USOC with fundraising opportunities and the four individual NGBs with BMW Group technical expertise. BMW Group will use its experts, deep technology base and facilities to help the Olympic and Paralympic Teams improve their training and performance. An example of this has been the company’s work with BMW ORACLE Racing to improve its performance. BMW Group’s expertise in light weight construction and aerodynamics helped the BMW Oracle Racing Team design a technically advanced yacht that won the America’s Cup sailing competition this year.

BMW Group (including BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad) will be the Official Mobility Partner of the USOC, as well as the 2012, 2014 and 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, and the 2011 and 2015 U.S. Pan American and Parapan American Teams. BMW Group will develop exclusive programs to support Team USA and will have a presence at the three Olympic Training Centers. These facilities welcome America’s top athletes to live and train among the nation’s best, including bobsled and skeleton sliders, speedskaters, swimmers, and track & field standouts. BMW Group will also have a presence at the major events of the four NGBs, beginning with the USA Swimming National Championships August 3-7, 2010, in Irvine, California. BMW Group’s sponsorship of USA Bobsled & Skeleton, US Speedskating, USA Swimming and USA Track & Field will include support for coaching and training programs, as well as increasing awareness of the NGBs and their athletes.

BMW Group also has a long standing commitment to the Olympic Movement. BMW played an active role in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the home of BMW Group. In 1996, BMW Group was a sponsor of the Atlanta Olympic Games and U.S. Olympic Team. Now with two years to go until the London Olympic Games, BMW UK is proud to be the Automotive Partner and a Sustainability Partner of London 2012. BMW Group’s partnership with the USOC is one more example of the company’s commitment to America. BMW Group entered the U.S. market in 1968 and since then has been a solid contributor to America’s economic, social, and sustainable advancement. Today, the U.S. is BMW Group’s second home with a growing footprint. BMW Group has manufacturing, engineering, design and technology centers which employ 7,000 people and has built more than 1.5 million vehicles in the U.S. to date. Direct and indirect employment accounts for 50,000 jobs in the U.S. Its Spartanburg, South Carolina manufacturing facility is the largest new vehicle exporter to non-NAFTA countries, contributing to America’s positive trade balance.

If approved, TMC278 will be the third anti-HIV compound to be introduced by Tibotec Pharmaceuticals. The regulatory application is based on the 48-week results of two pivotal Phase 3 double-blind, randomized studies, known as ECHO (TMC278-TiDP6-C209) and THRIVE (TMC278-TiDP6-C215), which evaluated the efficacy, safety and tolerability of once-daily TMC278 in treatment-naïve HIV-1-infected adults.

ECHO (Efficacy Comparison in treatment-naive HIV-infected subjects Of TMC278 and EFV) evaluated TMC278 (25 mg) once daily oral tablet versus efavirenz (EFV) (600 mg) once daily, combined with a fixed background regimen consisting of emtricitabine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. THRIVE (TMC278 against HIV, in a once daily RegImen Versus Efavirenz) evaluated TMC278 (25 mg) once daily versus EFV (600 mg) once daily, combined with an investigator-selected background regimen consisting of two N[t]RTIs (abacavir + lamivudine or emtricitabine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate or zidovudine + lamivudine). The studies were conducted at more than 100 sites in more than 20 countries, and enrolled 1,368 patients.

Pending FDA approval, Tibotec Therapeutics, a division of Centocor Ortho Biotech Products, L.P., will commercialize TMC278 in the United States. Regulatory submissions for TMC278 in other countries are expected in coming months. Tibotec has also entered into a license and collaboration agreement with Gilead Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: GILD) for the development and commercialization of a once-daily fixed-dose combination of TMC278 and Gilead’s Truvada® (emtricitabine 200 mg/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300 mg).
